An ad for Loro Piana appeared on my screen while on The New Yorker website. I'm curious about what the advertiser saw in my browsing history that made it think I would pay $10,000 for a bomber jacket, or $850 for a pair of baby pants

I suppose it's crazy to me that anyone would pay $500 for a pair of cotton swim trunks

Eight years ago I paid $1,100 for a bike and still question whether I overindulged.
