I Like Killing Flies (and probably a tangent)

I highly recommend watching I Like Killing Flies it's available on Netflix instant view, and I wrote a mini review/recommendation of it this week for Reel Nerds.)

also,

Why is this guy holding a box of frozen fish sticks while steering a ship? You'd think frozen fish sticks would be the last thing he needs.

This picture of my league's fantasy baseball auction board shows the point in the auction at which I finally decided to buy a player other than Nelson Cruz. (from earlier Notes from a Prudent Man fame.)

The moment I saw that play, I thought to myself, "Nelson Cruz defines what it takes to be on my fantasy team."

Speaking of Cruz, here are some quick stats from my blog courtesy of Google:

- 73 page views today, 123 the day before, 65 the day before that, 37 the day before that. 8 page views on March 19.
- Over the last month 33% of my readers used Internet Explorer, 25% Firefox, 23% Safari, 12% Chrome
- 68% use Windows, 20% Mac (the rest are mostly iphone/blackberry/android)
- The most viewed post of late has been the orientation post. (I'm glad to see my readers have good taste.)

Late last year I started noticing that my traffic was getting consistently higher so I clicked on a link that showed my traffic sources and found that the picture at the bottom of the Nelson Cruz post was attracting a lot of attention through Google image searches. Blogger keeps track of the search terms that bring people to my blog, and I noticed that a lot of searches that led people to the Cruz post might otherwise led people to male porn.

I didn't understand. How would a search like, "Nelson Cruz masturbate" or even "Naked sex masturbate" lead someone to my blog?

It turned out that, 1) those words were all in the picture's filename, and 2) there are more people out there searching for naked pictures of Nelson Cruz than you'd ever imagine.

(correction, "there are more people out there searching for naked pictures of Nelson Cruz than I'd ever imagine.)

I have since changed the file name, but still get some traffic from people searching for information about Nelson Cruz. For example, another stat shows that of my last 400 pageviews, 365 have been from the United States and 20 have been from the Dominican Republic. (The next highest country is 5 from Costa Rica, thanks Connors.)

Ok, That's everything Google tracks. I hope you've enjoyed, and if not, you know what you can do.
