Intelligence

To summarize this article: the Senate is investigating intelligence failures at the Pentagon that eventually helped make the case for invading Iraq. Democrats argue that intelligence was manipulated to justify the invasion. Republicans argue that although mistakes were made, Pentagon officials did nothing wrong.*
If the Senate concludes that intelligence was in fact manipulated, shouldn’t those responsible be tried for treason?
Here’s another article that goes into more detail about possible motives for the invasion. I found it while searching for Karen Kwiatkowski (quoted in the third paragraph.) She worked for the Pentagon the year before the Iraq invasion. She basically says that intelligence reports were manipulated to push American public opinion into supporting the war. Others in the article say that intelligence was manipulated to satisfy the United Nations’ criteria for war.
If the White House felt the need for a regime change in Iraq, why not just explain its reasons to the American public and beg for support?** And if the UN’s got a problem with it, they can assemble their army and stop us.***
*A vote for Obama is a vote to end partisan politics. (At least that's what he's selling)
**Who knows, maybe the American public would have got behind a good old fashioned conquering of Iraq. You never know…
***I guess that in a way, we kind of did that
