Hambone was giving me shit for the degeneration of this blog, so here's a quick post to continue that trend.
1) I'm starting to get into coffee a little bit. I still can't pinpoint it's effect, but the fact that I drank a cup black today and read this article last week says something.
2) After rereading my last post I'm kind of annoyed that I read more media originating from New York than Chicago. The Tribune doesn't do much long stuff anymore. The Chicago Reader still does, but either I'm outgrowing it, or it's not what it used to be. Maybe Chicago Magazine deserves another look, I think they focus so much on dining recommendations that it takes away from their journalism. (And here I am on this humorously bad blog criticizing some longstanding Chicago papers.)
3) Much has been made about the new bike lanes on Chicago streets and Rahm Emanuel is being praised for making Chicago a bike-friendly city, but I just want to get one thing off my chest. Halsted now has two fairly wide bike lines drawn in on each side, but the total width of the street hasn't changed. Yes, the lanes make cars more aware of the existence of bikers, but I think it also makes bikers more courageous than they should be.
4) Somehow my youtube surfing landed me on the Mike Tyson v. Lennox Lewis fight. Which led me to Lewis/McCall II (which gets pretty bizarre at the end.) Now I'm watching Tyson v. Botha, I'm stopping. What happened to boxing?
Can you name the current world heavyweight champion?
(Wladimir Klitschko)
5) Connors and Al went to the strip club last night. They sat down and the waitress approached them and asked what they wanted to drink, and Connors turned to Al and said, "I'll get the first round." Then he turned to the waitress and said, "Two large coffees."
